Dr. N. Nageswara Rao is a highly accomplished Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon with over 39 years of experience, now joining CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. He has performed more than 11,000 cardiac surgeries, covering a wide spectrum of procedures including off-pump and on-pump coronary artery bypass grafts, valve surgeries, congenital heart repairs, and complex aortic surgeries. He has also conducted more than 10 live demonstrations of off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) procedures, showcasing his surgical expertise and clinical leadership.

In addition to cardiac surgery, Dr. Rao has performed over 500 closed heart surgeries and more than 350 lung surgeries, including advanced thoracoscopic procedures. His experience also includes approximately 400 vascular surgeries, ranging from routine interventions to complex procedures like IVC filter placements and peripheral angioplasties. He was part of the team that performed the first heart transplant in the state of Andhra Pradesh in 2004 and the first combined heart and kidney transplant in the country in 2005. In 2016, he became the first surgeon in Telangana to implant the HeartMate III Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), marking a significant milestone in advanced heart failure care.

He is a Fellow of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons (FIACS) and a member of several national and international bodies including the Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS), Vascular Society of India (VSI), and Society for Vascular Surgery, USA (SVS-USA). His excellence has been recognised with numerous awards, including the "Rising Star Award" by the Times Group in 2016 and the “Vaidya Siromani” title in 2006.
